“I joined the team at Pateau Consultants because I did not want to continue working alone in a strictly academic environment. I am keenly aware that tomorrow my students will be employees in European or international companies and therefore I have a duty to establish a link between these two worlds.”

Christine Geoffroy is a professor of English and PhD in English studies. Her interest in teaching and research in English naturally led her to focus her attention on the communication difficulties between speakers of French and English. The move from the academic world to the business world was an easy one. Setting out to meet French and English workers in European or international companies, Christine conducted a survey that became the basis for her thesis and which culminated with her receiving the Le Monde Prize for University Research in December 1999. Entitled La Mésentente Cordiale (The Cordial Disagreement), her work was published by Grasset in March 2001. Through the testimonies of the people she interviewed, she demonstrates that mastery of a language alone is not enough to resolve the communication problems within a company.

Senior lecturer at the University of Paris IX Dauphine, she continues her research in the field of intercultural communication and contributes to various university programs (DESS) dealing with International Affairs.

At Pateau Consultants, she has found people who share her convictions in the field of intercultural relations and who have the same enthusiasm, the same desire to communicate their knowledge, to foster the development of an awareness of cultural differences and to allow multicultural teams to function better in a work world that no longer recognizes geographical borders.
